Punta Sosta – La Villa: info about this favourite pilgrim rest area and lodging

Somehow when I’ve arrived in the past at La Villa, about 6.5km after Monteriggioni on the way to Siena, the pilgrim rest area was unoccupied and bare, just a few tables and chairs. It’s now blossomed into a very helpful and abundant resource, an enterprise of its owner, Marcello Pagnini. He has snacks and drinks by donation and also has “affittacamere” (overnight room rentals), complete with the option of half-board. It’s a nice pitstop on the otherwise unserviced route to Siena and is covered in the 2024 printing of my Via Francigena Part 3 guidebook. Here are some pics of the rest area and Marcello and me.

The listing, as it will be shown in the 2024 printing of the VF3 guidebook.
